AELAdult Education & Literacy (AEL)

Joplin Schools' Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program helps adults improve their basic reading, math, and writing skills for the purpose of finding a better job, entering college, or beginning a technical training program. We also teach English as a Second Language (ESL). The program offers free use of books and computers, and classes are offered year-round.
FREE classes help you:

  • Prepare for the GED and ACT
  • Become ready for the workplace: self-assessment, goal setting, stress management, resumes, cover letters, and interviewing techniques
  • Learn to speak English
  • Help your children with their homework

All services are free and confidential. Students work at their own pace with an individualized learning plan. Morning, afternoon, and evening classes are available. See our website, www.gedjoplinael.org, for a schedule of classes. For more information about AEL, please contact:
